Code in the Schools Selected as a Microsoft TechSpark Fellow to Grow Economic Opportunity in Maryland
Baltimore, MD – Code in the Schools announced today that it has been selected by Microsoft as second year Fellow as part of its TechSpark program to provide equitable access to computer science education to youth in underserved communities in Baltimore, Maryland. Since 2013, Code in the Schools has been committed to providing free computer science programs to students in an effort to bridge the digital divide and ensure that youth are prepared for careers in the tech industry.
Code in the Schools, which has trained thousands of students in coding and tech skills in Baltimore City schools and community organizations, (alternative: expands access to coding and tech skills in communities across Baltimore), will be supported by Microsoft grant as a TechSpark Community Engagement Fellow, working together to support digital equity. Microsoft recently announced the second cohort of the TechSpark Community Engagement Fellowship, which support nonprofit organizations across the country working to expand economic opportunities in their communities.

Last year’s cohort of TechSpark Fellows secured over $177 million in funding support, reached 48,000 community members, and engaged 548 partners to help build economic opportunities in 42 communities across the nation. Read more about Microsoft TechSpark here.
